ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

We're looking for a DevOps Engineer with hands-on Akamai expertise to join a well-established international tech consultancy known for its self-organised, low-politics culture and strong engineering standards. You'll own the support, configuration and optimisation of a large-scale CDN ecosystem, ensuring high availability, peak web performance and edge security across critical platforms. This is a senior, high-autonomy role for someone who can hit the ground running and set technical direction from day one.

PROJECT & CONTEXT

  • Support and optimise the Akamai CDN for highly available, secure, low-latency global asset delivery
  • Manage Infrastructure as Code with Terraform and Terragrunt, provisioning cloud environments and edge configurations
  • Implement and automate edge security: DNS routing, proxies, WAF and bot management
  • Define CDN best practices and translate complex networking concepts for technical and leadership stakeholders
  • Agile environment within a large enterprise context
  • Fully remote from Portugal; occasional national/international travel (0–15%) depending on project needs

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR (Required)

  • Proven senior-level experience in Cloud Infrastructure, SRE or DevOps within a large enterprise environment, +6years
  • 2–3+ years of recent, hands-on experience supporting and configuring CDNs, specifically Akamai (essential)
  • Strong hands-on proficiency with Terraform and Terragrunt for managing cloud environments
  • Solid coding skills in Python, plus working knowledge of JavaScript and Shell scripting
  • Deep understanding of web fundamentals: DNS, proxies and edge security (WAF, bot management)
  • Experience supporting, monitoring and operating critical production environments, and understanding how large-scale websites work at network level
  • Strong communication skills and experience working in Agile frameworks
  • Fluent English (written and spoken)
  • Must be based in Portugal
  • Experience with Git, modern automation tools and CI/CD pipelines
  • Solid grounding in general DevOps principles and practices

Compensation: €[2300] – €[2800]/month net, depending on experience and seniority level.

2. HOW DO YOU USE THE DIFFERENT COMMUNICATION TOOLS IN DIFFERENT SITUATIONS?

When you're working on a remote team, there's no way to chat in the hallway between meetings or catch up on the latest project during an office carpool. Therefore, virtual communication will be absolutely essential to get your work done...

5. HOW DO YOU PROCESS INFORMATION?

Several years ago, I was working in a team to plan a big event. My supervisor made us all work as a team before the big day. One of our activities has been to find out how each of us processes information...

7. HOW DO YOU ORGANIZE FILES, LINKS, AND TABS ON YOUR COMPUTER?

Just like your schedule, how you track files and other information is very important. After all, everything is digital!...

9. HOW DO YOU PREPARE FOR A MEETING AND PREPARE A MEETING? WHAT DO YOU SEE HAPPENING DURING THE MEETING?

Just as communication is essential when working remotely, so is organization. Because you won't have those opportunities in the elevator or a casual conversation in the lunchroom, you should take advantage of the little time you have in a video or phone conference...

10. HOW DO YOU USE TECHNOLOGY ON A DAILY BASIS, IN YOUR WORK AND FOR YOUR PLEASURE?

This is a great question because it shows your comfort level with technology, which is very important for a remote worker because you will be working with technology over time...
