We are sharing a specialised part-time consulting opportunity for experienced public health communications professionals with strong expertise in health messaging, audience engagement, evidence-based communication, and public-facing health information.

This role focuses on reviewing professional documents, spreadsheets, and presentation materials related to public health communications. Selected experts will assess outputs for factual accuracy, clarity, audience suitability, analytical rigour, presentation quality, and overall professional credibility.

Key Responsibilities

Public Health Communication Review

  • Evaluate communication materials involving public health programmes, guidance, campaigns, and community outreach
  • Assess whether health information is accurate, clear, and appropriately contextualised
  • Identify unsupported claims, misleading statements, and communication gaps
  • Review whether messaging reflects appropriate public health principles
  • Apply professional judgement to realistic health communication scenarios

Audience & Message Strategy

  • Assess whether communication is appropriately tailored to intended audiences
  • Review tone, framing, accessibility, and message clarity
  • Evaluate whether complex health information is translated effectively for non-specialist audiences
  • Identify messaging that may create confusion or reduce understanding
  • Review consistency across different channels and stakeholder groups

Evidence-Based Health Messaging

  • Evaluate whether public health claims are supported by appropriate evidence
  • Review interpretation of epidemiological, programme, or population-level findings
  • Identify overstatement, weak evidence, or unsupported causal conclusions
  • Assess whether limitations and uncertainty are communicated appropriately
  • Ensure key messages remain aligned with the underlying data and analysis

Campaign & Programme Communications

  • Review materials supporting public health campaigns and programme implementation
  • Evaluate communication objectives, key messages, calls to action, and stakeholder engagement
  • Assess whether communications support programme goals and audience needs
  • Identify gaps in outreach strategy or message sequencing
  • Review the practical effectiveness of proposed communication approaches

Documents & Presentation Review

  • Evaluate reports, spreadsheets, communication plans, and slide decks for accuracy and completeness
  • Review stakeholder and executive presentations for clarity and logical flow
  • Identify factual, analytical, aesthetic, and formatting issues
  • Assess whether charts, tables, and visuals accurately communicate health information
  • Ensure conclusions and recommendations are clearly connected to supporting evidence

Structured Evaluation & Feedback

  • Assess assigned outputs against domain-specific quality criteria
  • Identify factual, analytical, communication, and presentation errors
  • Distinguish substantive public health communication issues from minor editorial concerns
  • Provide clear, structured written feedback explaining identified strengths and weaknesses
  • Apply evaluation standards consistently across different work products

Ideal Profile

  • 5+ years of relevant professional experience in public health communications, health communications, public health programmes, health education, public affairs, or a closely related field
  • Strong experience developing or reviewing public-facing health information
  • Practical understanding of public health messaging, audience segmentation, and stakeholder communication
  • Ability to assess whether health claims and recommendations are appropriately supported by evidence
  • Experience communicating complex health information to non-specialist audiences
  • Highly proficient with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace
  • Advanced proficiency with PowerPoint / Google Slides
  • Strong spreadsheet and analytical skills
  • Native or professional fluency in English
  • Excellent written communication and ability to provide precise, structured feedback
  • Strong attention to factual, communication, analytical, and presentation detail
  • Master's degree or higher from a recognised institution is advantageous

Engagement Details

  • Part-time independent contractor engagement
  • Fully remote
  • Flexible scheduling based on project requirements
  • Compensation: $70–$110/hour
  • Work includes evaluation of public health communication materials, reports, spreadsheets, and presentation materials
  • Projects may be extended, shortened, or concluded based on project needs and performance
  • Work must be completed without using confidential or proprietary information belonging to any employer, client, institution, or other third party
  • H1-B and STEM OPT support is unavailable for this engagement
